The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) will provide students across the city with the opportunity to engage with peers and their community throughout the summer.

  • Thursday, September 8th, 2022: First Day of School for the 2022-2023 School Year
  • Thursday, September 15th, 2022: Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for elementary school and D75 school
  • Monday, September 26th, 2022 and Tuesday, September 27th, 2022: School Closed in observance of Rosh Hashanah 
  • Wednesday, October 5th, 2022: School Closed in observance of Yom Kippur

Summer Meals

Free Summer Meals Starts June 28

According to the NYCDOE's Summer Meals page, breakfast and lunch will continue beyond the instructional school year. The Summer Meals Program will be available throughout NYC to anyone ages 18 years old and under. There are designated public schools, community pool centers, parks, and food trucks will be open for service. No registration, documentation, or ID is necessary to receive a free breakfast or lunch meal.

Dr. Jacqueline Peek Davis Elementary School (P.S.12):

            PS 12 is a small warm school nestled in Ocean Hill, Brownsville between row houses and new sustainable housing developments. We are a school located in a community that is on the rise.  If you are looking for a school where everyone knows your name and every child matters, our school is for you.  Our culture and community is amongst the best in New York City. Our school focuses on every child's social, emotional and academic needs.  We align our curriculum to the state standards and ensure our student work products are authentic and rigorous.  Our School Leadership Team consists of parents, staff and community members who work cohesively to make effective decisions for the school community pertaining to our school needs, budget and grant opportunities.  We are a school where collaboration is at the heart of our existence. We are defined by one key word “Together”.  We work collaboratively with families. Together, we are committed to making an impact as family engagement and community is part of our school culture and tradition.  We offer adult education classes, afterschool, Saturday school, consultancies in literacy and math, residencies in the arts and beyond as well as a variety of family engagement opportunities on site and off site.  We collaborate with a plethora of organizations in the community, local colleges and universities ensuring college and career readiness is at the forefront of our work.
